Dell Inspiron 13 (5368 ) screen issues

Hi, It has been 5 months since i purchased my DELL Inspiron 13 (5000 series).

Lately it has begun flashing bright white light instead of turning on the screen when i turn it on. The bright flash shows visible but thin lines on the screen when i click using the touch screen or the touch pad and disappears to a blank screen after the click. I understand the system turns on but the screen does not display. It happens at times; randomly. Other times it turns on fine.

I have tried the built-in test for the screen. Once the test was successful but when i tried it again the colorful bars did not appear, instead the flashing light would appear when the colorful screen was supposedly changing color. What could have gone wrong? What is the solution? Thanks.

:emotion-2:

You're referring to the flashing bright white light as the Power And Battery- Status light ?

No. I mean the screen. It is blank and flashes white light when i click somewhere and also when a key is pressed. The screen flash stops after the click to show a blank screen with no images/text etc. I have a video of it, not sure how it can be shared.

Lastly,

If you aren't able to connect to an external monitor, run Dell online / offline diagnostic, I suggest you check the warranty status by entering service tag number onto the link below:

" It happens at times; randomly. Other times it turns on fine ".

If you're able to boot back into windows and the computer is working normally:

Run a full (Complete) diagnostic test to check hardware on the system. This will run a stress test on all hardware devices which goes even deeper to find any possible hardware issues . Please follow steps in Dell video below:

Hi, thanks for your response.

I tried the complete test. During the first 10 minutes, the test and laptop ran fine. After i left it to complete the test, the laptop apparently switched to sleep mode and upon my return, when i turned it on, the same issue started . It ran fine after repeatedly switching the power button on and off, for over 30 minutes. (When it does not display the screen, i have to leave it off until a later time when pressing the power button will/ will not display the screen). However, the complete test result showed hard ware functioning well.

I don't understand how the test shows hard ware is working fine?

It could be because of the BIOS, Chipset and Video drivers are outdated. Please select Detect Drivers in the link below. The dell tool will search for the latest Dell firmware and drivers for the system.

Thanks for your help. It updated some drivers and wants the BIOS to be updated. I will have some expert do it, don't want to get my system into any more problems.

Thank you for your help! :)

I'm assuming the Dell utility updated Chipset and Video drivers, and Panel Firmware onto the system. If there're no more issues with the screen then I would not worry about updating the BIOS.

If the screen problem still occurred, I would suggest contacting Dell Technical Support for assistance in the link I have posted above. If you decide to update BIOS later, please check out Dell video in link below.

Hi!

Thanks again for the response. The screen issue has not occurred for two days now. I hope it doesn't occur again.

However, remembering that it occurred randomly in the past, i can not be sure it is completely fine. Will wait few more days.

I will see the videos you recommended :)

In the Dell Product Support page, you'll see View full Driver Details in the BIOS file. Please click on it and check out the BIOS Fixes & Enhancements:
