BIOS upgrade AC adapter problem

When I try to upgrade my BIOS to version A16, i get an error, "AC adapter and battery must be plugged in before the system BIOS can be flashed." Both the battery and AC adapter are plugged in, and I can't get past that error.

There is a way around that, but it is not without some extra risk. When you get the red error message, press Enter and it will take you to an A:\Prompt. Type/enter dir and it will show you the files on the diskette. Find YOUR BIOS Executable(sometimes there are more than one), copy that exactly at the new A:\ prompt, skip a space and add     /forceit      Press enter and your flash should start.
If you are doing a flash from the Harddrive, my advice there is DON'T!

What if you don't have a floppy drive to install the BIOS upgrade from?

Take his warning seriously, a BIOS Flash gone bad requires a replacement of your BIOS chip,
if you are lucky, or more likely, a new MotherBoard.

My D800 will boot from a USB 'Floppy' Drive and it has been reported that you can also use a
"USB Card" Boot Device or create a Bootable CD to do a 'DOS' Flash from your Optical Drive.

I have only used my 'Sony' USB floppy Drive and have no experience with the other two methods.

I would borrow or buy one for the flash with the other problems you have. A HDD flash is far more prone to failure than the Floppy Method when everything is right and I do not use it then. I did one once and when I saw what was transpiring, the hair stood up on the back of my neck! That was the first and last time I did a flash that way
