AC power adapter warning

Two days ago I have bought the XPS L702x laptop. Yesterday I was finally managed to install all the drivers and stuff.

Today I started to receive the message that "The AC power adapter wattage and type cannot be determined" when I turn on the laptop.

It doesn't bother me very much and it says that I can turn it off, but I just wonder why did it appear? Is that bad and may have any negative consequences?

by the way, the battery is charging when the OS is on. It always shows that it is 100% charged. Do you think this might be  false information from the OS?

Try a new Dell adapter first.  If that doesn't solve the problem, the mainboard needs repair or replacement.

If the AC adapter isn't properly sensed, the system will not run at full speed and the battery will not charge.

Hi ChaosGen,

Welcome to the Community

Few steps which we can try to resolve the issue,

1. Unplug the AC adapter and battery from the computer and then press and hold down the power button for 10-15 seconds and then release the power button, plug in the AC adapter and battery and then try to start the computer and check if you are getting the same error message, if you are still getting the error message try second step.

2. Try updating the BIOS for the computer, please visit http://support.dell.com/ and got to drivers and download, select your system model and then check for the latest BIOS version of BIOS, download and run (install) BIOS, restart computer and check if you are getting same error message or not

If the above step doesn’t work, please add me as friend and send me your system service tag number, so we can check your system model details and assist you further.

Please reply for any further assistance.

Always glad to help.

Thank you
