Clarification on IDPA v2.4 and the DP4400

We wanted to provide a point of clarification for the version of IDPA (2.4) which recently released on 5/21/19.

This software version only applies to the version of the DP4400 (also released on 5/21), which now has an entry capacity starting at 8TB. The IDPA software stack delivers the same functionality as its predecessor, IDPA 2.3, but now with a new Appliance Configuration Manager (ACM) to handle the lower starting capacity for this version of the DP4400 and a licensing schema that jumps from 8TB to 24 TB in 4TB increments.

So, the net is if you are a current owner of the DP4400 shipped out prior to 5/21/19, IDPA v2.4 would not apply to your product.

There will be a new software release later in 2019 that will apply to all DP4400 products.

thank you,

Dell EMC Support Team

@Petergid  thanks for that info.

All, FYI, as of now the latest version of IDPA for all models (DP4400/DP5xxx/8xxx) is 2.7.1.

It is recommended to start planning an upgrade to the latest version soon, especially if you are several versions behind. The latest version includes important security patches in addition to other enhancements.

Our Dell Remote Proactive Services (RPS) team normally does all upgrades for our customers.

To get started, you can contact your Account Manager or open a case at https://www.dell.com/support/home/en-us or call Dell Support for IDPA at 1-800-782-4362.

Also, if you post a specific request here, we will try to follow-up on that for you. (Do not post any private info here though). You can send a Private Reply directly to me rather than replying to the public discussion.

If this is useful please give KUDOS.

thanks
