Cannot boot from USB

I have an Inspiron 7591. I wanted to boot off a USB Stick. However, it wouldn't show the boot list option for the USB. Even the BIOS doesn't recognize it. It boots fine on Inspiron 3521. I turned off secure boot, and PTT(whatever that is). I searched the internet and it said to boot from a USB 2 port. But there are only USB 3 ports in the laptop. How do I fix this ? Thanks in advance.

You will need a different system with a more configurable UEFI boot sequence - the Dell Inspiron systems will not boot a GPT partitioned flash drive.

If still under the purchased warranty, click the "Get Help Now" icon on the right to start a live chat session.

The way to boot from the flash drive is to connect it, press F12 after the power button a few times, and choose it from the boot menu.

If you don't see the drive in the boot list, what's on it and how was it prepared?

You're better off preparing that with the Microsoft Windows Media Creation Tool:

The Dell UEFI can't work with GPT from a flash drive.

I won't comment on violating Apple's licensing (and the terms of service of this forum).  I suggest you move any such questions elsewhere, since you may find yourself banned for discussing that here.

Sorry i had no idea that was illegal. I also have ideas on installing Phoenix OS, based on android. I hope you can help me with this. It also needs GPT with UEFI. So it comes under the same thread. cannot boot from usb.

Oh. So if I install the os to another machine, and move the hard drive over to this machine, it should work right ? or are there any complications ?

My Issue is largely similar in that:-

DELL Inspiron 3000-15 series, Intel i7 11th gen, New Laptop, with no DVD drive. Came ex factory loaded with windows 11. Win 11 will not run essential legacy software, even in windows legacy mode, which is critical for our operations, this despite them still working on an older win 10 pro DELL machine. The “work-around” option I have chosen is to Dual boot a genuine DELL copy of windows 7. Or perhaps windows 10?. However the laptop has EUFI and NO legacy option. Which means the win ISO on a USB drive is not recognised as a boot option. I am advised there is a way of “disabling” EUFI etc; in the bios, to allow the USB drive to be used as a boot. But searches of the “net” have so far drawn a blank as to the correct procedure?. Any Idea’s or suggestions would be welcome. DELL themselves have been less than helpful, not appearing to understand the need for legacy options. Those internet suggestions I have so far seen, appear to involve manipulating EUFI, TPM 2 and Bit-Locker, settings in BIOS?. But if so How?. I have "proved" the ISO works by booting from a windows 10 (Older) inspiron 3000.

If the software runs under Windows 10, then install Windows 10.  The system will have no trouble running it, though note that Dell won't support an OS other than what shipped with the system, so you're on your own.  Use the Microsoft Media Creation tool to produce a bootable flash drive and install Windows 10.

If the software runs only under Windows 7, you're out of luck with this hardware, which will not run that operating system.  Neither will it run in legacy/CSM mode -- Intel ditched the last legacy support in 2020 -- and that was down to just a very few systems;  the phase-out of legacy mode began in 2015.If you must have legacy support, you'll need an older system to do it -- no current system will do the job.

Mate that comment wasn’t illegal nor is any software mentioned illegal or against any terms and conditions. . The guy hasn’t got a clue.  Carry on with what you doing only using tools that are designed by us or third party seems to circumvent issues that arise in many situations the manufacturer can’t put right or won’t. The tools mentioned or any that I use in my shop such as circumventing passwords on windows are certainly not illegal or methods used to circumvent install of windows 11 daftest ever Tpm module requirement plus circumvent them getting home customers to use a Microsoft account non of this is illegal.  We have the right to keep tech going and our data safe.  The only way anything becomes illegal if it’s done for malicious purposes this is why we have white collar hackers. Do no harm. Just fix the  manufactures can’t or won’t for customers keep electronics out of landfills

mMMM hang on have I broke some Microsoft rule by mentioning circumvent Tpm or hack passwords when authorised by customer.
