Help with G5 5000 CPU upgrade
Hello, We have a G5 5000 with a 10th Gen CPU. Dell says that 11th gen is supported with latest BIOs update. We installed i9-11900f and I am getting two flashing amber lights and one white which refers to an MBIST: SPI Flash issue. I reinstalled the old CPU...and all still good. I have not tried booting from a flash USB drive yet...any thoughts?

I am not sure of that. there is no user benchmark evidence supporting 11th gen in G5 5000.

Did you talk to a Dell tech helper or read this from G5 support site?
so far all evidence speaks that G5 5000 only supports 10th gen cpu. no 11th gen cpu support evidence.

if you click through all the old versions of G5 5000 bios release, none of which mentions new microcode addition. they all dealt with " Firmware updates to address security vulnerabilities."
when Dell writes a new bios to support new cpu gen they would include a statement in bios release that fixes/enhancement are done to support new microcode. Such is not found in G5 5000 bios yet.
