Dimension 9200 stopped booting

Our Dell Dimension 9200 (DXP061) suddenly stopped booting. The LED lights up and then turns off and the cooler runs at full throttle. Please assist. Thank you.

What color is power button when you try to boot? Steady or blinking

Do all four diagnostic LEDs go off?

Try this first:
1. Power off and unplug power cord from rear of PC
2. Press/hold power button on front of PC for ~30 sec
3. Reconnect power cord to rear of PC
4. Try to boot now

When was last time you replaced the motherboard battery. If it's old, you should start by replacing the battery, CR2032, ~$2, if the above doesn't help. Instructions are the Service Manual.

try replace cmos battery with a brand new CR2032 and clear cmos settings by reset RTCRST jumper on mobo.  full throttle cooler suggests corrupted cmos that fails POST.

9200 DXP061 /XPS 410 is over 15 years old now.

So hard drive and power supply are not likely ok now.

Systems this old need cmos battery, power supply, hard drive that is new. working unit can be had for less than $100.

Orange. Steady.

No, only an LED near the graphics card.

Tried, issue persists.

Replaced, issue persists.

@FilGov  According to the manual, if the PC's front power button (not LED on motherboard) is steady amber:

A device may be malfunctioning or incorrectly installed

  • Remove and then reinstall the memory modules
  • Remove and then reinstall any cards, including graphics cards

You may need to strip it down to bare essentials.

Disconnect all drives, except boot drive, remove all PCI and PCI-e cards except video card. Remove all RAM modules except the one with white clips that's closest to the CPU. Then remove motherboard battery and press/hold power button for ~30 sec. Reinstall the battery and see if it boots now...

If it still won't boot, remove the one remaining RAM module and try to boot again. If you should hear 2 or 4 beeps from inside the PC. If not, your motherboard is may be suspect...

If you removed all RAM modules and didn't hear any beeps from inside PC when you booted, then you have to consider that the motherboard died...
