Dell Optiplex 9020 low fan speed

Hi there,

I've stressing the CPU of my Dell Optiplex 9020 and I've noticed that the temprature rises and and the fan speed remains the same.

I've used a temp monitoring software to find out what's the issue and as you may see the main CPU temp remains low while the rest of them is much higher.

Also the fan speed remains always the same. . .

Is this normal?

Did the fan speed increase when it hit 74ºC?

Did the fan speed increase during the diagnostics, which it should have done?

You can go to the Intel site to check what the temp specs are for your specific CPU, if that will make you feel better. But even 74ºC doesn't sound very hot.

yes. Right after the 72c threshold the fan speed rised about 20% and at 82 degrees they doubled at 2000+rpm and after doing a research I found out that this is quite normal.

Which TBH I wasn't really expecting this range of temperatures.

CPU fan speed is controlled by BIOS, so it depends on how BIOS was configured for "hot".

Reboot and press F12. Go to Utilities partition and run the Fan diagnostics. If the CPU fan passes, you probably have nothing to worry about.

And keep in mind that temp monitoring apps may or not be very accurate... :emotion-5:

I've run the diagnostics and the max CPU temperature was at 74C degrees.

Beside that all the tests run successfully.
