Dell computer won't connect to Internet or show the option to reinstall Windows

My Dell computer all of sudden won't connect to the Internet via a wired connection. In fact, there isn't a network icon showing up in the task bar, If I go to the network connections page, I will be presented with a blank page (and the device manager page is blank, too). I tried to reinstall Windows but I can't find the option to do that on the setup/boot menu (the one accessable by pressing F8 before going to the Windows screen upon startup). What should I do? Thanks.

This is why I cautioned you about giving up on troubleshooting before you even started...  Now that you installed Windows you need to install all the necessary drivers for your computer, starting first with something called the "Chip Set" driver.  Then install the rest of the drivers necessary for the hardware that is present in your particular system in whatever order you wish.  Typically the video is done next so that you can see things more clearly, then audio, network adapter, modem, and whatever else you need.  Then update Windows repeatedly until there are no more updates to be downloaded/installed.  Then install the Dell provided Roxio Record Now (to burn CD/DVDs), Power DVD (to play DVD movies), and whatever application software you need...  at bare minimum that includes Antivirus, Java, Flash, Shockwave, Acrobat reader, and probably Microsoft Office.  This will unfortunately take considerable time to complete.

If you don't have the then visit support.dell.com to download them.

If you have integrated graphics, installing this (the Intel onboard graphics driver) should help.

I'm presuming you don't have a PCI video card installed.

Make sure to install the System Software (under System Utilities, if applicable), then the chipset before any other drivers.  After the chipset, you should install the video drivers (and any other needed drivers).  Since you didn't say what model computer you have or what OS you are working with, we can't give you detailed instructions or links, but you can get the drivers by going to support.dell.com, Drivers and Downloads, and select your model or enter your Service Tag.

It's a B110 running XP.

It's possible to update the chipset drivers online, direct from Intel, here, and it's alright to do it after the video drivers have been installed.

An original B110 with XP would have the CTRL F11 Symantec restore.

Most likely infected with malware.  Reinstall or booting from live Linux disk will validate this.

Blank White Page is infection from malware.  I have seen this many times before.

Reinstall from scratch is your only option.

The machine likely boots into BIOS fine and only goes whitescreen after starting windows.

I suggest starting a new thread.

Is this a B110 we're discussing?
