8250 Noise
I have owned several Dell machines but this new 8250 is the first one I have had that makes a loud humming noise when it boots. It is loud (it is not a DVD drive noise of a fan noise) humming noise. After 20 minutes the noise becomes low. Is this normal?

The only things moving are fans and hard drives. The cpu fan is a variable speed type that probably cranks up at startup and then settles down. The cpu/fan is shrouded with a plastic bellows that may be loose and vibrating. Mine cranks up initially but I've never heard an excessively loud hum.

See if this document can help you locate the source of the "noise"
