Migrate Shares from Dell Domain to Windows File Server

Hi All,

I am looking for solution to migrate CIFS/NFS shares from Dell data domain to windows file server. We have Dell data domain which recently got out of support and we would like to get rid of it because of cost related to renewal of support contract.

I am unable to find any solution or software that can help us to migrate shares on DD to windows. Any help would be really appreciated.

I obviously do not understand the problem.

As the shares already exist, why don't you just copy the files/directories to another location of your choice?

Problem is I have never copied files/directories from Data domain to some another location, so don't know the best way to copy the files that carry all ACLs/permissions to new location.

Normally when its from Windows to windows, I'll use Robocopy that takes care of all the things.

By copying do you mean just normal copy to another location or do you recommend some way to copy the files that also copies permissions on files/directories ?

I see EMCopy that is equivalent to Robocopy I believe, but I don't know if that is going to help. Other way I am thinking is to mount DD share as network drive on windows machine and the use Robocopy to copy directories/files to new windows shares. Is it right approach ?

As you mentioned, I would just go ahead and mount the share and use my preferred copy tool.

You are dealing with a share - the copy command does not know that this in fact resides on a DD or on another piece of (virtual) disk. So it should work as usual.
