DDVE Community edition licence

Hi, Can you tell me where I go to get a licence key for DDVE community edition?

Thanks,

I don't think they call it ddve community edition any more?

But they keep things very vague in that sense?

In the latest "Dell EMC PowerProtect DDVE on Premises 7.11 Installation and Administration Guide" it states:

"DDVE licensing
The Apply Your License window is the first screen that appears when DDSM is launched for the first time. The DDVE instance is locked until a license file is applied.
Click Browse, locate the license file for a purchased capacity license or the evaluation license that is included with the DDVE
download, then click Apply.
NOTE: The DDVE Pre-Installed Evaluation License provides 90 days of full functionality and maximum supported capacity (96 TB) to DDVE software for evaluation purposes and may only be used in a non-production environment. If you begin with the evaluation license, and you want to purchase a license later, you need the Node Locking ID for the DDVE instance. Click Administration > Licenses to view the Node Locking ID."

Not part of that ddve 7.11 on-prem manual is the part that was still stated in the ddve 7.7 on-prem manual from 2021:

"The 500 GiB evaluation version is available from the Trial Download page.
Steps
1. Go to Dell EMC Online Support.
2. Download the ZIP file that is appropriate for your environment."

The link of the download was https://www.emc.com/products-solutions/trial-software-download/data-domain-virtual-edition.htm, but that page now states a 403 "Forbidden You don't have permission to access this resource."

I have for my own small vmware workstation testlab a DDVE that I upgraded from ddos6 dot-something to ddos7.7.0.4 now, still using the free version. For this you needed to keep the amount of allocated storage below 500GB during initial deployment so that you could use the free tier. Haven't tested this directly with a recent DDVE version to see if it will still remains working out of the box without needing to apply a license, this as ddve 7.11 states the pre-installed license to remain working for 90 days, while ddve7.7 in 2021 stated even less, just 45 days.

But possibly if simply remaining small enough, it might remain working fully regardless, even though there is no official mentioning about it? Anything above 500GB would require to become licensed in the past, so maybe the same still applies now, regardless of what the recent manuals state...

ddve 7.7 on-prem manual from 2021 stated :

"DDVE features
Resource configurations depend on your DDVE configuration. Following are the capacity configurations that are supported by the DDVE:
● Up to 500 GB (evaluation version only)
● Up to 8 TB
● Up to 16 TB
● Up to 32 TB
● Up to 48 TB
● Up to 64 TB
● Up to 96 TB"

The line "Up to 500 GB (evaluation version only)" is no longer even stated in ddve 7.11 on-prem manual any longer:

"DDVE features
Resource configurations depend on your DDVE configuration. Following are the capacity configurations that are supported by the DDVE:
● Up to 8 TB
● Up to 16 TB
● Up to 32 TB
● Up to 48 TB
● Up to 64 TB
● Up to 96 TB"

So unsure if this is still going to work with a recent DDVE...
