show flogi data
Hi,
Due to unlimited free ports,I have a planned to expand my SAN fabric with a new additional switch.
My question is,if I have done only the physical fc cable connection (without configuring / enable the trunk ports at both end switches),should i see any physical entry / login in the #show flogi data command?????
Please help....

if you are connecting two cisco switches and setup a regular ISL or portchannel, no ..you will not see switch WWN in "sh flogi data". If you are connecting a Cisco switch that is running in NPV mode ..then yes, you will see the switch WWN in "sh flogi data" output.

You should never simply plug in a cable if you don't know how the port is configured. Suppose both ports are in VSAN 1 and auto ISL is configured ? Then a new portchannel will form and you might disrupt traffic. If both ports are enabled and both ports are in VSAN 4094 as they should be (isolated to avoid unexpected behavior when you simply start plugging in cables), I think you can see the wwpn of the other port, but I doubt if it's visible in a show flogi command.
