Hello,

So what would be the probable solution to this problem? And what would be the impact of pressing the reset button on this SP. And how long should I press on the reset button?

Regards,

John

It appears that one of the boot drives may be faulted, you'll need to open a service request with EMC.

Hello,

I managed to open the service request, and had chat with the emc, but they proposed to send an engineer on site and suspected that one one controllers was fault.

Is there a way that u can reset the controller?

Regards,

John

I think the controllers they are referring to is the Storage Processor - there is a reset, but that will not resolve the issue that you're experiencing.

The recommended method to shutdown the storage system is to use Navisphere Express. Under the System heading of Navisphere Express, select Services and then click on the Shutdown button. The choices displayed include: Shutdown SP A, Shutdown SP B, and Shutdown Storage System.

If Navisphere Express is not available because the storage system is not responding, the Storage Processors can be powered down by pressing the power button on each SP. Note that both SPs power-up together but must be powered-down separately. If the SP still does not respond, a four second hold on the power button will force an instant shutdown of the SP.

Once booted, button behavior will depend on the state of the system. If the FLARE code is up and running, a one second push will initiate a graceful shutdown. If the FLARE code is not up and running, a one second push will power-down the SP instantly. Note that a hold on a powered-down SP power button will keep an SP powered-down. If you want to power-up a single SP without powering up its peer, hold the peer SP’s power button while short pressing the target SP’s power button.

If an SP does not respond to the power button, the Non-Maskable Interrupt (NMI) Button can be used to force a reboot of the SP.

To perform a password recovery, click the reset security button, a small white button in the bottom right of the DPE for each SP. Navi Express enters a state where security is temporarily disabled for 15 minutes. If you launch Navi Express during this 15 minute period, the users can define their own credentials or log in with previous defined credentials. If new credentials are

defined, the user is logged out and must log back in with the new credentials.
