New M630 Blade installation and fabric i/o slot assignment
Hi,
We have an M1000e chassis and 4 existing M620 blades, im adding two new m630 blades and after completing the required chassis firmware updates and installing windows the status of the Intel x520 10GbE dual port KX4-KR Mezz only displays as 1Gb as the connection speed.
When looking at the fabric information from the iDrac I can see on the 10GbE card is at fabric C on the old servers and fabric B on the new blades, as Im new to all this is there something I should have changed via the bios settings, or do I need to change one of the fabric/switch settings?
Any help would be appreciated.

Hello
It sounds like the switch on fabric B is 1Gb and the fabric C switch is your 10Gb switch. The fabrics connections are not something you change through a setting. There are two mezzanine slots that you can install that network device into on the M630. One of the slots should be labeled B and the other C. I suggest moving it over to the C slot so that it connects to your 10Gb switch.

Hi Daniel,
Thanks so much for your help, pointing me in the right direction - I removed the blades and opened them up, swapped over B with C and the correct speeds are displayed in windows now.
Another issue I now have is one of the 10Gbe connections is saying network cable unplugged (as in picture) the two 1Gb are normal to be unplugged as this is the same on the other blades.
Im wondering if a cable needs connecting at the rear of the chassis as I wouldnt imagine this ISNT a setting?
Appreciate if you could point out anything obvious Im missing!

You are correct, it wouldn't likely be a setting on the CMC, blade, or OS. It is possible that it could be a setting though. It mainly depends on the I/O device that is installed in fabric C on the chassis. If it is a 1-to-1 pass-through module then it could be that a network cable is not plugged into the exit interface assigned to the second port of this 10Gb mezzanine.
The M1000e Enclosure Owner's Manual has a section that shows how the ports are mapped. You can look at the I/O Module Port Mapping - Half-Height Blades>Dual-Port Mezzanine Cards section to see how they are mapped for your situation. You can then check to see the status of the exit interface assigned to port 2 on the 10Gb mezzanine.

If you are using a switch instead of a pass-through module then it could be a configuration issue with either the switch or network card.
