M630 blade - Yellow Status Indicator LED - No POST

Hi,

Following a recent data centre relocation, one of our out of warranty M630 blades won't POST.

The Status Indicator on the front of the blade is showing Yellow.

The iDRAC doesn't appear to boot, as the IP Status on the VRTX chassis shows Booting, and no details of the blade are shown in the chassis web interface.

I've done all the usual troubleshooting, stripping the blade down to the bare minimum, draining flea power, etc. but the same symptoms persist. I suspect it needs a replacement system board, but just wondering if there are any other troubleshooting steps I can take before ordering one?

Cheers,

Rob

Hello,

Could you confirm if the issue is that the node won't POST, or if the iDRAC won't boot? Both have the potential to require a system board replacement to resolve them, but I want to make sure we're on the same page.

At any rate, the troubleshooting steps I would look at (some of which you have mentioned) are to take the server to the minimum to POST, drain the flea power, clear NVRAM, attempt to flash the iDRAC (potentially using the firmimg file on an SD card) and reviewing the chassis logs to see if there is any additional information on the node. To acquire those logs, you would just need to SSH into the chassis, then run the commands 'racdump' and 'dumplogs.' You'd then want to search for the appropriate server to see if it identifies a specific issue. If the steps don't yield any behavioral changes and the logs don't show an obvious issue, I'd be looking at replacing the system board, as well.

Let me know if this helps, or if you have additional concerns.
