Pre-enter username and domain in mcgui.bat

Hi,

Since version 7.5, I'm unable to pre-populate the username, domain, mcaddr etc through the documented switchs ([-domain DOMAIN] [-mcsaddr AVAMARSERVER] [-mcspasswd PASSWORD] [-mcsuserid USER-ID]) for mcgui.bat.

It seem they now get ignored, they must have changed up the 7.5 code in that regard?

I openened a ticket to that effect but could not get a good answer regarding this. As per version 7.5 of the technical addendum, it should be working.

There are case the MSM (multiple systems manager) does not cut it. We are managing a 20 Avamar servers farm, and clicking on a shortcut that pre-populate  the connection information is the only way to remain sane.

Please do not try to talk me into security issues this could imply, we are doing well in that regard on our own, thank you

AvOpener is a better option for you. A Single file that can save information for all the server and open different versions of MC GUI

Download AvOpener

If you could let me know which SR you were working on with Support I will review and follow up on that for you

I've worked with support on this, it really was a case of user error after all.

The switchs are still working as expected, but they were not pre-populating data on my work computer for some reason.

We switched session, and it worked instantly.

FYI, this is still documented under "mcgui.bat" in the latest Technical Adendum (Partner / employee I believe?).

The exact synax is :

mcgui.bat [-domain DOMAIN] [-mcsaddr AVAMARSERVER] [-mcspasswd PASSWORD] [-mcsuserid USER-ID]

Thank you so much Amol, I wonder why nobody ever told me about Avopener before ?  This seem like quite an obvious case were somes devs coded something to get around and obvious customer pain point. If only it saved passwords as well.

Have a good one!
