Aurora R12, pump fan failure

The pump fan for the CPU keeps failing. After cleaning the inside I was able to get it to pass but the error keeps occurring since then and the BIOS software keeps throttling my PC. I've also already replaced the thermal paste on the CPU.

"It is connected" and "connected properly" are not necessarily the same thing. One photo where we could clearly see the connector is aligned properly would help us, to help you, determine if you need to replace the AIO liquid cooler. I understand your frustration, but this is a user forum, where users help other users. No amount of photos in this thread will get your part replaced.

If you determine that your pump has failed and you want to replace the AIO cooler yourself, consider the Corsair Hydro Series H60 (2018) You might also consider replacing the OEM fans with some better quality, more quiet fans while you are doing maintenance.

What is the exact BIOS error message you are getting?

Did you change your OEM fan to something else? Did you reconnect everything correctly after your re-paste? Drop a photo of the inside of your rig.

The OEM liquid-cooler (AFAIK, still Asetek clone) has a
Heat-sink/Pump (with internal impeller)
and a
Fan on the unit's radiator

Which do you think is failing, and where are you seeing this error ?

The fan spins fine, its the pump. I'll probably just  have to buy an aftermarket replacement

Can't really tell from that photo, but make sure your cable is properly connected to the FAN_PUMP motherboard header before purchasing a replacement. Sometimes the connector and pins can be misaligned.

It is connected. Idk how many more pictures I need to send for a replacement part for my 3000 dollar computer but I can keep sending them until I get a replacement or know that I need to purchase one.

I've been trying to get ahold of dell for a week with no luck to use the part warranty with no luck. I'll just buy the replacement.

If your warranty is till valid, I would suggest going that route. That's one of the only ways to get the true Dell/Alienware part that fits and connects perfectly like the existing one.

Did you ever get this resolved with Dell? What warranty did you have? I believe I'm having the exact same issue on my Aurora R12. Thanks

Same here on my R12. Obviously the water pump is junk and doesn't last more than 2 years. What's the exact replacement I need to purchase?

The pumps are made by Asetek, and most likely whatever you replace it with will also be Asetek , , , because they are good pumps. You can replace your unit with the OEM Alienware AIO liquid cooler, or choose a 3rd party 120mm AIO liquid cooler. This one has a 38mm radiator.

Weird.

The Dell-OEM Asetek in my Aurora-R1 is running-fine at 12 years old. I've got a "working pull" Asetek-unit in the closet for it, but as of yet ... still never needed to install it.

The Dell-OEM Asetek in my Aurora-R6 (slightly different model) is also still going strong. We have given it quite a work-out over the years.

All that said, I've been here for a while now so I do occasionally read owner reports of old-ones eventually failing sometimes. Just remember, that just between Dell and Corsair ... there are likely millions of them out in the field.

Hi - I am getting a pump fan error on my Aurora R12, too. Is the link you gave above still the best replacement? Thanks!
