Norton Antivirus Purchase

The free Norton Antivirus which came with my new laptop is about to expire. When I tried to purchase a subscription I was directed to a telephone number in India. I was told I can't do this online and I must send a check (which includes a $3 fee)to a company called Digital River who will then send me instructions on purchasing. What is going on here? I didn't encounter this process with Norton on my desktop several years ago. Why do they have such a convoluted process for doing business? With all the concern about phishing I'm not inclined to get involved with this unknown company (Digital River.) I'll use another antivirus program.

Please go to www.avast.com and check out their FREE VP.
I have been using it for months and really do like it.
Full service program with updates etc.

You should be able to resubscribe online from here:
http://www.symantecstore.com/dr/v2/ec_main.entry25?page=RenewalCenterPage&client=Symantec&sid=27674&CID=157990

that is the symantec store link.. from there you can renew your subcription of upgrade to 2005... online

its a secure site...

Actually Digital River is legit:

But I'm burned out on Norton after 15 years of using their products... as far as I'm concerned AVG free antivirus is a great alternative to fee-paid products.

Still, all the AV products do great for what they defend against. But what they don't do very well at is stopping adware, spyware, and all the other scumware which are in my opinion a far more pressing danger now than traditional viruses. For that you need several more free programs to stop the threats. I use these on my all clean page and never get any malware:

Hi Bobscott; I am getting ready to renew myself, if you are not getting the pop-ups from symantec (I'm getting them every day now) I,m just waiting to get closer when it expires. There are a couple of ways to get to your renewal. one is click the quick launch icons on your taskbar, click "about Norton Security" renew from there, Good luck! Happy New Year!!!!   : )    or go to www.symantec.com  left side click renew!!!   CYA
