P2423DE, Mac M1 Max Thunderbolt Daisy Chain

Hi guys

I have a Macbook Pro M1 and wonder if it is technically possible to daisy chaining to 2 external QHD (2K) Dell monitors. I would like to make sure before purchasing.

My target monitors are two P2423DE with USB-C input.

My Macbook Pro is 16" 2021 with M1 Max chip and Thunderbolt 4 ports. OS is Monterey 12.0.1.

I have read this FAQ: https://www.dell.com/community/Monitors/Dell-monitor-Apple-FAQ-updated-March-22-2022/m-p/8145013#M139991
and this: https://www.dell.com/support/kbdoc/en-uk/000131273/using-a-dell-ultrasharp-usb-c-monitor-with-a-mac#Daisy_Chain
and unfortunately there isn't an answer to this: https://www.dell.com/community/Monitors/P2423DE-USB-Type-C-input-daisy-chain-to-another-monitor/m-p/8166110#M140668

The above articles talks about how Macs can daisy chain U-series monitors, which is unfortunately out of my budget. I would like to know if P-series with USB-C ports can also be daisy chained by Macs.

I had also read through multiple Apple forum articles like this:
https://discussions.apple.com/thread/253341707
and this:
https://discussions.apple.com/thread/253640248#:~:text=he%20Mac%20does%20NOT%20support,use%20High%2Dspeed%20thunderBolt%20cables.
and this:
https://discussions.apple.com/thread/253029467
which all states that M1 Max chips can daisy chain only if the monitor supports thunderbolt daisy chaining.

I'm not sure if I had missed it, but I had read through the specs but haven't found anywhere saying the USB-C port of the P2423DE is a Thunderbolt port or not.

Any suggestion will be greatly appreciated.

TLDR;

Please correct me if I am wrong

- U-series monitor can support thunderbolt daisy chaining from Macs

- Mac M1 Max thunderbolt 4 can daisy chain thunderbolt monitors

- Does the above 2 statements also apply to P-series monitors?

- If yes, how should the setup be done?

Thanks for the time to read this

Cheers,

macOS monitor daisy chain has always been a great unknown for Dell and Apple users on the Apple Forum. macOS Monterey has only added to this unknown.

None of the P series monitors are "technically" supported in macOS by Dell, so another unknown. If we go to the P2423DW drivers page, click the Operating system drop down arrow, we only see Windows. This is also shown in the "Dell monitor, Apple FAQ" in that DDM for macOS does not list any of the P series monitors.

The P2423DW User's Guide never mentions thunderbolt. Page 42 does show the daisy chain starting from PC USB-C. But the understanding there is that the PC is Windows. Notice the Dell logo on the Laptop =
