Is 2007FP 8-bit or 6-bit?

My beloved 2001FP died and I'm thinking of replacing it with the 2007FP. Is the 2007FP an 8-bit or 6-bit panel?

Thanks,

Tom

2007FP has used both Samsung S-PVA and LG.Philips S-IPS panels. Both are 8 bit, but the S-IPS is better.

Hello,

If I buy a 20" 2007 Today for a Small Biz Dim 9200, will I get the S-PVA or S-IPS?

Thanks!

Allegedly, Dell now uses S-PVA panels in the 2007FP model. I received my 2007FP today and have no idea which panel it is since I got the new firmware (A03) which no longer shows the panel type in the service menu. There are just codes, nobody knows yet what they mean.

You should be able to tell what panel it is by looking in extreme angles. S-IPS panels have a very special effect in these circumstances.

Some discoloration? I've looked at my 2000FP in extreme angles and didn't notice any changes whatsoever. So the S-PVA is supposed to have better viewing angles than the S-IPS?

No actually S-IPS is said to have the best viewing angles for some reason. It's probably because the image doesn't get washed out, only this is added to it and it's pretty unnoticable except for dark black.

I checked the links and I have none of this IPS-discoloration. Black stays black and the picture stays sharp, it doesn't get washed out and doesn't show any discoloration regardless of the viewing angle. If I am supposed to have a S-PVA, I must say that I am very happy with it. At least I have no clue what this panel-hysteria is about.
