USB keyboard and mouse

We need drivers for USB keyboard and mouse. After plugging them in we get two yellow question marks in device manager but how do we get the drivers. I downloaded the port replicator and it worked but I can't locate the kb and mouse. Its using XP on a new Latitude D610.

Welcome to the Forum,

First thing I would try is removing the 'problem' drivers in device manager.

Then, with XP running, plug in your new Keyboard/Mouse and let Windows
'discover' and install its drivers for them.

I have a D800 and ordered the Notebook Stand, Keyboard and Dell USB Mouse,
Windows installed them when I plugged them in. Mouse would work through
the keyboard's USB or directly into USB without keyboard.

If your Keyboard/Mouse is not from Dell, you may need to go to the Mfgr.'s
website and get drivers, warning is that installing a USB or ps2 Mouse
will usually kill your ALPS Driver, you can try reinstall of that later.

I now use a MS IntelliMouse on built in "HID" Drivers and it works
great under ALPS Control Console:)

Your Touchpad will function without the Dell ALPS Drivers, but you
lose a lot of features (like tap off and hide pointer when typing)
as well as the ALPS "Auto Scroll" which is the best scroller yet.

Thank you for your help.

We have tried that. The mouse even pops up and seems happy installing a HID driver. But then in device manager there is both the new HID device shown and an unknown device still shows up (that wasn't there before the mouse was plugged in) The kb is sk-8139 USB hub keyboard and doesn't trigger the install wizard. Is there something in the alps settings that allows adding external kb and mouse?

Both kb and mouse are Dell. Unfortunately, the laptop is a corporate image so things may be missing and/or generally messed up by short sighted IT.

Thanks again
