BIOS backdoor password

Hi,

I was wondering what exactly using a BIOS backdoor password does.

Does it just bypass the current BIOS password for that session, or does it completely reset the current BIOS password?

Please note that I'm NOT asking how to reset the BIOS password--I'm well aware of how to do so. I'm simply asking whether a backdoor BIOS password resets or one-time bypasses the current password.

Thanks

It will allow you to get in such that you can reset it (or remove it).

The bios backdoor password allows you to get into the machine. It is Machine Specific based on the Service Tag Number and will NOT be given out to anyone that cannot prove ownership of said laptop to Dell Support.

Does the one they give reset the current one or bypass it?
