Optiplex 330, DVD drive won't open sideways

Hello guys and happy holidays!

My mother has a Dell Optiplex 330 DT computer, https://c.76.my/Malaysia/dell-optiplex-330-mini-tower-m...
and due to limitations on space, the computer is standing up, rather then laying flat.

The odd thing is, the optical drive will only open when the computer is laying flat in,and refuses to open up sideways. I tried switching drives, but that didn't work.

Is there anything I can do to make the DVD drive open up? Or do I just need to transfer everything to a new case? Maybe the 330 MT, will the motherboard fit?

A USB connected DVD drive may be the best option.  Nothing has to be changed in the PC.

Because you post https malware links in your questions on the forum.

Any idea why the drive won't open sideways?

Huh. That's weird. The link seems fine to me. Oh well. Since I didn't get the answer I was looking for I'm just gonna trash the optiplex and buy another PC.

You could trash the Optiplex 330, but that would be silly.

Perhaps the DVD drive is not connected or the connection came loose.

The DVD on the DT model looks to be similar to a laptop DVD drive. It is one which will just pop out an inch or two. It isn't a tray.

And the link is not a malware contrary to what Speedstep says.

After doing some fiddling, the DVD drive tray does some a little lose. It opens now, but not all the time unless I tap the side of the case or force it within Windows. I'll take your advice and try try to move the drive forward to see if that works, before transferring everything to a new case.
