What M.2 SSDs are compatible with the Alienware 15 R3? What is the short M.2 slot for?

Hi,
This model has 3 M.2 SSD ports: 2 in size 2280 that will work at 4x and 1 in size 2242 that will work at 2x (thats the short one).
Here you have a list of compatible SSDs:

Thanks! Follow-up question. While not on the tested list would something like the Samsung 850 EVO - 500GB - M.2 SATA III Internal SSD (MZ-N5E500BW) also work in the M.2 slots?

It is not validated so we can not confirm functionality. You can ask in other forums like AlienwareArena and see if another user has already tried.

Is there an updated list? Anything tested that is compatible with the 2242 2x slot? What can we put there?
Also testing the Samsung EVO would be very helpful as this is a popular SSD.
