Data Domain How to add / register a Data Domain to Secure Connect Gateway

CLI:   

Note: If necessary to register the Data Domain to more than one SCG, the cli commands will be needed to add the additional gateways after the first. 

1. ssh into the Data Domain System as sysadmin
2. Check current configuration.
   1.  # support notification method show
   2. # support connectemc config show
3. Register DD to SCG
   1. # support connectemc device register <DD IP>  esrs-gateway <the SCG GW hostname>
      1. It will prompt for Service Link username and password. Customer’s support credentials can be used. (Same credentials when viewing the Dell support site)
      2. Example output:

# support connectemc device register 10.10.10.10 esrs-gateway myesrsgw01
Enter Service Link username: admin
Enter Service Link password: <nothing displayed as you type>

4. After register succeeds check configuration again and set notification method to connectemc.

   1. # support connectemc config show
      Example output:
       # support connectemc config show
          ConnectEMC Configuration:
              ESRS gateway IP/hostname:    myesrsgw01
              Registered device IP(s):     10.10.10.10
      # support notification method set connectemc
       # support notification method show

      
       
6. Test connection

   1.  # support connectemc test
      Example output:
      # support connectemc test
          Sending test message through ConnectEMC...
          Test message successfully sent through ConnectEMC.

GUI:

1. Maintenance > Support > Configure Channel

2. Select “Secure Remote Services”

3. Input ESRS hostname and select a DD IP

4. Enter Service Link credentials (Same credentials when viewing the Dell support site)
5. Register complete

High Availability System Instructions: 

GUI:

1. On the Active Node, Maintenance > Support > Configure Channel

2. Select “Secure Remote Services”

3. Input SCG hostname and select a DD IP and the HA Peer IP

1. Enter Service Link credentials (Same credentials when viewing the Dell support site)
2. Register complete

CLI:  
1.  FOR DD HA PAIR enter: 

# support connectemc device register <DDipaddr> esrs-gateway <SCGhostname> ha-peer <peerDDipaddr>

Both Data Domain systems must be able to ping the SRS Gateway by hostname. If the peer DD cannot, this command fails.

2. After register succeeds check configuration again and set notification method to connectemc

 # support notification method set connectemc
 # support notification method show

3. Test connection

1. 1.  # support connectemc test
      Example output:
      # support connectemc test
          Sending test message through ConnectEMC...
          Test message successfully sent through ConnectEMC.
