Symptoms

L'installazione del file .vib kdriver ha esito negativo con molti errori, ad esempio:

Lo splitter ESXi non si avvia dopo un riavvio dell'host ESXi, con errori in /var/run/log/vmkernel.log:

Nota: Questo problema farà sì che l'installazione del cluster di RecoverPoint for VMs non riesca anche a causa di un errore durante l'implementazione dello splitter ESXi.

Cause

L'host ESXi ha un'impostazione VMKernel.Boot.execInstalledOnly impostata su true.
Questa impostazione impedisce l'installazione corretta di kdriver vib utilizzando l'installazione in tempo reale.

Lo splitter di RecoverPoint non può funzionare con VMKernel.Boot.execInstalledOnly impostato su true.

Resolution

Soluzione:
1. Sull'host ESXi, modificare l'impostazione VMKernel.Boot.execInstalledOnly su false.
  • Eseguire il seguente comando ESXCLI.
esxcli system settings encryption set --require-exec-installed-only=F
  • Verificare la modifica. 
esxcli system settings encryption get
Mode: TPM
Require Executables Only From Installed VIBs: false
Require Secure Boot: true

 
               Verificare che Richiedi solo eseguibili dai VIB installati visualizzifalse.
  • Per salvare l'impostazione, eseguire il seguente comando.
/sbin/auto-backup.sh
    TPM non applica più l'opzione di avvio execInstalledOnly. 
 
2. Riavviare l'host ESXi.
3. Eseguire nuovamente l'installazione vib.

Additional Information

Questo problema può influire anche sui sistemi RecoverPoint funzionanti, quando i clienti eseguono la procedura di rafforzamento STIG.

La procedura imposta i valori STIG predefiniti che modificano il parametro "VMKernel.Boot.execInstalledOnly" = True.
La procedura modifica la configurazione ESXi, ma viene applicata al riavvio/aggiornamento successivo e potrebbe causare problemi di aggiornamento di VxRail, poiché gli host aggiornati non possono eseguire le VM protette di RecoverPoint for VMs.


Sebbene sia possibile installare il vib con l'opzione --no-live-install - - Lo splitter sembra non funzionare anche dopo il riavvio.
