- Go to Dell Support. Have a Brocade Serial Number or Dell Service Tag ready.
- The Sign In or Create an Account option is presented. If an account does not exist, register on this site.
Note: It can take 24 hours for the account to become active. A confirmation email is sent when the account is active.
- Once Signed in, scroll down the Dell Support page and place a Brocade switch Serial Number or Service Tag into the Search Support area and click Search.
- The selected Serial Number or Service Tag's switch details as shown below. Select the Drivers & Downloads menu.
- On the Drivers & Downloads page, a list of Brocade FOS versions are shown, available for download for the switch whose Serial Number or Service Tag was entered.
Note: An active Support Contract for the Brocade Hardware is required.
Once the FOS required for download is found, click the Download at Broadcom link on the corresponding FOS version.
- A new tab opens, and a login for the Broadcom Assist Portal appears. Verify the email address entered.
If there are account issues on this site, reach out to

. With this process, the user is accepting an "End-User License Agreement" (EULA) and must have a valid email address.
- Once the EULA is accepted, a confirmation email from Broadcom is sent to verify the email address by clicking the link provided in the verification email.
Note: This email address must be a company email address where the switch is registered to and cannot be a free email service (such as gmail.com). Provide the email address to verify twice in the form and the correct CAPTCHA text from the image, then click Next.
- Verify the Email Address. Enter the Verification Code from the email sent from Broadcom, and the correct Captcha text from the image and click Verify and Continue.
Note: If you do not have a Broadcom Assist Portal account, it re-directs you to register on this Broadcom site.
- Fill out the online registration form, click I Agree, then click Submit.
- The email address and information entered must be a company email address where the switch is registered to and cannot be a free email service (such as gmail.com).
- It can take up to 48 hours for this new account to become active. A confirmation email is sent from Broadcom when the account is active.
- If the email address is already registered in the Broadcom Assist Portal, the Sign-in page is re-directed to the Assist Portal Download Screen. Enter the switch Serial Number and click Search Serial (The "BRC" prefix may or may not be in the serial number fields).
- Below, in the My Downloads section, click the appropriate Switch Category (that is Brocade Directors, Brocade Switches, Brocade OEM, Brocade Embedded Switches, and so forth).
- The Switch Model associated to the Serial Number appears. Click the Switch Model (such as Brocade G620 Switch) to delve into the FOS files available for the Serial Number.
Note: If you need to upgrade different models of switches you NEED to download the Fabric OS for these different models of switches. (One downloaded Fabric OS code DOES NOT suffice all different models.)
- The corresponding FOS versions that are available for the Serial Number entered are shown as seen below. Click the wanted FOS version to download.
- Click the Download icon next to the FOS to download.
- Click to accept the EULA. All terms must be agreed, then click I Accept.
- Once the EULA from Broadcom has been accepted, a Pending Approval display window may appear if this is the first time downloading software from Broadcom.
An email is sent within three business days to inform whether Broadcom approved the request to download. Brocade expects all approvals to be within 24 - 36 hours. All weekend requests are handled on the following Monday.
Note: If this request is important, contact Dell Support.
- If software has been downloaded previously from Broadcom before, a new browser Tab is opened and a Save As screen appears where the FOS files can be saved anywhere on the local system. Choose the preferred download path and Click Save.
- Repeat Steps 13-16 with any other FOS file that must be downloaded from the same version.
- If any other versions are required, repeat from Step 12.
