In this video, we’ll demonstrate how to replace the M.2 2230 Solid-State Drive or SSD. Before removing the SSD, read through the safety guidelines to protect your computer from potential damage and ensure your personal safety. Then turn off your computer and disconnect all attached peripherals. To get started, loosen the two captive screws that secure the site cover to the computer. Using the tab on the right side of the cover slide back and lift the side cover away from the chassis. We will now proceed with the removal of the SSD. Lay the computer on the right side. Remove the single screw that secures the SSD to the system board. Slide and remove the SSD from its slot on the system board. You have successfully removed the M.2 2230 SSD.
Now, let’s see how to install the M.2 2230 SSD. To begin, align the notch on the SSD with the tab on the card slot. Now insert it at an angle into the card slot. Replace the single screw that secures the SSD to the system board. Align the tabs on the side cover with the slots on the chassis. Slide the side cover towards the front of the computer.
Now, tighten the two captive screws to secure the side cover to the computer. You’ve successfully replaced the M.2 2230 SSD. Now, connect all the peripherals and turn on your computer. For more information see the Service Manual at Dell.com/support.
