In this video, we demonstrate how to replace the 2.5" hard drive on a ChengMing 3991 system. Before removing the hard drive, read through the safety guidelines to protect your computer from potential damage and ensure your personal safety.
For more information about safety guidelines, see the ChengMing 3991 Service Manual at: "Dell.com/support". Before you begin, ensure you create a recovery drive and back up all data, as well as turn off your computer and disconnect all attached peripherals.
To begin, loosen the two captive screws that secure the side cover to the computer. Slide the side cover towards the back of the computer and lift the side cover away from the chassis.
Now, let's remove the 2.5" hard drive. Disconnect the power and data cables from the connectors on the hard drive. Press the release tabs on the hard drive assembly and slide it outward.
Then, lift the hard drive assembly away from the computer. Now, remove the two screws that secure the hard drive to the hard drive bracket. Slide and lift the hard drive away from the hard drive bracket.
You've successfully removed the hard drive. Now, let's see how to install the hard drive. To begin, align and place the hard drive in the hard drive bracket and secure it with two screws. Align the hard drive assembly to the dedicated hard drive slot on the computer chassis. Press the release tabs on the hard drive bracket and slide it toward the chassis until it clicks into place.
Now connect the power and data cables to the connectors on the hard drive. Align the side cover with the guides on the chassis and slide the side cover toward the front of the system to install the side cover.
Now, replace the thumb screws to secure the side cover to the system. You've now successfully installed the 2.5" hard drive. You can now connect all the peripherals and turn on your computer.
