Here's how to import or delete foreign configurations on LSI 9271-8i RAID controllers. Hard drives used in a RAID configuration contain information about the level and configuration of the array in the disk data format standard.
If the information on the drives doesn't match the information on the controller the drives are considered to have a foreign configuration To use the drives you need to either import the foreign config to use the drives as they're currently configured, or clear the config to start fresh.
Restart the PC. Enter the WebBIOS configuration utility by holding the Ctrl key and pressing "H" when prompted, then select your adaptor. The first two drives shown are taken from another machine and are marked in the WebBIOS as "unconfigured bad".
Select each drive and mark them "unconfigured good". They're now displayed as having a foreign config. Click "Scan Devices" to open the foreign configurations screen.
Click "Preview" to see the foreign config info, or "Clear" to delete it. We're going to import the foreign config. After being imported the array is displayed and managed in the same way as one created natively. Thanks for watching.
