I have an Alienware 18 R1 that has been my daily driver since late 2015. I know that’s a fossil, but I hate to put down Ol’ Stellar over a blown raidiator, so I’m gonna ask for help here even if objectively it might not be worth the time and effort to fix it. I opened it up, using an antistatic bra

PCIE slot failure is probably one of the GPU slots. I haven't seen it happen very often at all but it could be the reason for your 8 beep error. The 8 beep error is for an LCD error but you will sometimes get this with a GPU failure. The 7 beep code

If you have the original battery then your best chance is to find some local who can repack the cells. It's quite a specialised skill these days and nobody in my state (in Australia) seems to be able to do it. If you're in the US then you probably ha

I have some experience with these old laptops but it will help if you let me know what the beep code sequence is. This will help pinpoint the possible cause. It will beep a certain amount of times in a row stop briefly and then start up again. If it

Dear dell forum, I have an Alienware M17x R1 and I recently updated it to Windows 10, but the lighting is not working on it. I installed Alienware Control Center, and still nothing. I tried installing AlienFX but I get an error saying it can only be installed on Dell products. But in cmd it says th

@FOX025 Are any of the lights currently working or is everything dark?

I recently picked up an Alienware M11x from 2010 on eBay. It has an Intel Core 2 Duo clocked at 1.30GHz, an Nvidia GeForce GT 335M, and 4GB of DDR3 memory. In the seller’s description, they mentioned it was “slow” and “lags out.” I replaced the 15-year-old HDD with a new SSD and reinstalled the ori

@alien-head The R2 arrived a few days ago. I'll get some old games installed on it and see how it goes. I need to get a new black LCD lid cover for it at some stage. Otherwise it's in great shape.

I loved the M11x and I've had a few R3's over the years and an R2. While they were very underpowered than the bigger AW's available at the time and they did not have nice displays, they were really fun little laptops. Unfortunately I sold my last R3
