XPS 2in1 7390 can't download anything from Oculus store

Hi,

I am using XPS 2in1 7390 + razer core x chroma(Geforce 2080SUPER) with Oculus rift S to play VR games.

I can download and install Oculus software and setup Rift S, and I can play games downloaded from steam.

but I found that I can't download anything from the Oculus store. I always get this message:

"Sorry, we couldn't install [program name]. Visit Oculus support to get help",

also, other PCs in the same network can download games from the Oculus store with no problem.

I have tried the followings but can't fix the issue:

1) reset all the things, reinstall Windows OS, then reinstall Oculus software.

2) Contact Dell and they have replaced a new motherboard for me.

3) Create a new Oculus account to try.

4) Try in different places via different Networks.

5) Setup other download directories instead of C drive.

6) Run oculus software as the administrator or other new accounts

7) disable all antivirus software, including windows defender before installing Oculus software.

I have contacted Dell and Oculus, they have not idea for this issue.

I would like to know if any others who face the same issue as me?

Many thanks.

I have the same problem with the XPS 13 2in1 7390. I'm using the Gigabyte Aorus  gaming box GTX1080 and have tried the RTX2070 version as well. Both does not allow the oculus app to download any games. Tried all the steps I  the previous message as well as fully restored the laptop but can still not install any games. Everything works on my macbook using bootcamp and an older XPS 15. Frustrated to the point of  almost selling the laptop of a HP spectre 360 or a Lenovo c940

Interesting, I wouldn't have guessed that the system model could be a culprit downloading apps, but since two people with the same system are reporting the same issue, maybe there's something to that.  But that does sound like a question better answered by Oculus Support than Dell.  They should be able to tell you why their own app isn't allowing a download to occur.

But just fyi @s011420 , I would keep expectations mitigated in terms of performance.  You've put a very high-end GPU into that enclosure, but the fact remains that you're using it with a system that has a low-power 15W CPU installed, not one of Intel's higher-performance 45W CPUs that you'd find in systems like the XPS 13 -- and high-end GPUs get bottlenecked if they're not fed by similarly high-end CPUs.  Yes, you've got a new Ice Lake CPU, which is worth something, but that CPU is still optimized for low power consumption rather than performance, and the XPS 13's cooling system means it's unlikely it would be able to run at its max performance for sustained periods anyway.

Just wanted to chime in I've also had the same experience with a razor core and a 1660 ti. When paired with my Lenovo work laptop it all works... Troubleshooting with Oculus a while ago didn't get me anywhere.

I'm having the exact same issue with my Razer Blade Stealth (late 2019 model) so it's not just the XPS. Tried literally every troubleshooting step out there...

Thank you! I actually found the solution a few days ago myself and have been meaning to post back here. I also received the following response from Oculus support when I made them aware of the fix which I didn't love:

Hi Grant,

That's good to hear I am glad you were able to find a fix for that.

Now I'm going to take a similar stance to what the Oculus Support agent this Reddit user spoke of probably had. There are a ton of different issues that people experience over the years Oculus has been out, so we here all the time that "I can't believe this has never been fixed" etc. There are a few factors that tend to not be considered when people experience these issue though.

Big issues here with PC platforms is that every single user has a completely unique system they are running things on. With different programs, hardware and a history of things that computer has done. This leads to a massive number of different possible conflicts that could be causing any problem. When we look at issues to consider if it is something that needs to be address, it usually goes by what percent of the user base is affected. This is always a correct indication of an issue on our end as if there is something wrong with our software, it is immediately obvious as it affects close to everyone at the same time.

This fix in the post is likely more of a work around for some other underlying issue with the OS, since it seems to not want to install apps due to a folder due to an Oculus signature. More often than not, it's something OS related, so while changing over to this other DLL file may have resolved the issue for you, we wouldn't want to call this a proper fix as the same DLL file works on mine and most other users computers. Which is why we would be more likely to suggest reinstalling Windows over settling on a work around.

Reading over the comments as well, you see a number of people noticing similarities with their computers and the specific issue which further points to conflicts with the system rather than an issue with our software. I will put this post forward though to see if there is anything we can do with this information, that part of the team is separate from customer support though, so the most I can do is pass that post along and provide information for you.

Let me know if you have any other questions, concerns or if you have any other thoughts on the matter you would like to share

Kind regards,

Casey

I had exactly the same problem, tried everything, was ready to return my 1660 Ti and Razer core x, until I found this post:
https://www.reddit.com/r/oculus/comments/fq722s/fixed_cant_install_anything_from_the_store/
I've downloaded Ultimake Cura 4.5.0 and replaced the libeay32.dll in the oculus folder with the one from the Ultimaker download.
Problem solved!
You might have to do it everytime the Oculus software updates.
Hope this helps

Wow it worked! Thank you so much! I have spent countless hours with Oculus Support and they just ended up giving up on me. Actually, if I had to guess how much time I spent diagnosing and trying to fix this problem it would be ~40 hours.

Thank you so much for posting it in this thread. Disappointed in Oculus support, but thanking the Reddit community and you for helping others.
