XPS 15 - 9575 Killer Wifi 1435 Halving all Wifi speeds

XPS 15 9575 2-in-1

XPS 15 9575 2-in-1

So I've had this laptop for a few years now, I don't see a need for me to upgrade/buy a neww laptop as it still does what I need it to. The problem is that from time to time the Killer Wifi 1435 wifi chip would halve my internet speeds. It's been constantly halving the wifi speed for about a month now.

My home internet on any of my other devices, Smarthphones (iPhone 8, LG V60, Xperia 1) and my other laptops (VAIO svf15N1A1J, ACER alpha swift 12) all had a download speed of 45mb/s (around 350mbps) but only on this laptop with the killer wifi chip I only get about halve of that. I have tried updating the Drivers, the killer software, the bioe the windos updates, even upgrading to windows 11 to no avail.

If your laptop with the Killer WiFi 1435 chip is halving your internet speeds, try these steps:

  1. Update Drivers and Software:

    • Download the latest drivers from the Killer Networking website.
    • Ensure all Windows updates are installed.
  2. Adjust Network Settings:

    • Open Killer Control Center and disable Advanced Stream Detect.
    • In Device Manager, uncheck "Allow the computer to turn off this device to save power."
  3. Change WiFi Channels:

    • Use your router's settings to switch to a less congested WiFi channel.
  4. Network Reset:

    • Go to Settings > Network & Internet > Status and click "Network reset."
  5. Reinstall Network Adapter:

    • Uninstall the Killer WiFi adapter from Device Manager and restart your laptop.
  6. Check Router:

    • Update your router's firmware and ensure it's compatible with the Killer WiFi chip.

If the problem persists, consider replacing the WiFi adapter.

Thank you for the advice, I don't have "Advanced Stream Detect." in the Killer app.

I've tried changing the channels as well as the router itself, didn't fix it, went back to the old router after that, and it's somewhat improved.

I can get up to 350mbps download speed, but it is very unstable. It goes up and stays maxed at 350mbps for about 10 seconds and drops down to 0 for 2 seconds, then goes up slowly again to 350mbps and repeats the whole thing again.

So if it was a stable connection like my 13 year old VAIO, something that would take 30 mins to download would instead end up taking 56 minutes to completely download.

On the XPS 9575 driver page I see that there is an intel wifi card driver, does DELL sell an intel replacement daughter board for this model? I can't seem to find it anywhere online, and Dell hasn't replied to my emails.

Using MSconfig I've tried disabling all killer services on startup, but without the killer app download and upload speeds caps at about 222mbps. With Killer services enabled when download or speedtest first starts the speed would shootup to 350mbps or more then immediately go down to about 240mbps and throttles over and over again. Tried turning optimize setting on and off but really not much of a diff.

There seem to be an intel wifi chip variant for this laptoop as the driver page lists this driver

Intel 3165/7265/8260/8265 Wi-Fi UWD Driver

Is there a way for me to buy that from Dell or anyone... I'm so fed up with this killer wifi 1435 speed issue
