XPS 15 7590 unbearably slow

Hi,

A while ago I posted on the forum, after experiencing serious issues with my XPS 15 7590. Later I contacted Dell Tech Support and had my motherboard replaced. My laptop works, but has been unbearably slow ever since. For example, Windows Explorer takes 2-3 seconds and Microsoft Word more than 10 seconds to open. CPU usage seems normal and I still have about ~8.0 GB of RAM (out of 16.0) available. The laptop seems to become quite hot when under normal load. There is no significant dust accumulation in the fans and heatsinks (nor around them).

I've done quite some Googling and did countless scans, a clean boot, opened up the laptop to check for dust or any other visible cause - but I cannot find anything. It saddens me that I'm experiencing these performance issues, despite having sent in the laptop for repair. Given the amount of time and effort I've spent looking into these issues, I'm seriously considering purchasing a laptop from a different brand. Nevertheless, I'd like to give it one more try by asking for help here. Does anyone know how I can get rid of these performance issues? I'm open to any suggestions.

If you've read this far, I'd like to thank you for your time.

Regards,

tgjttt

Your motherboard replacement was incorrect solution at the start.  Your next consideration of another brand will be a repeat mistake.  The system components configurations and the operating system settings are the main cause for the slowness, not a motherboard or another brand.

Reset BIOS settings to defaults, then making adjustment to match your system hardware.  Perform a clean installation of Windows using Media Creation Tool.  When complete, allow Windows to configure and installing needed drivers.  Avoid using too many redundancy utilities and disable unnecessary apps loading at startup.

A fast start up device may gradually slow down if not being properly done for drive maintenance and temp files clean up.  Schedule periodically system update (drivers and firmware) will also contribute to the performance.

I agree that a UEFI/BIOS reset is needed

Then a clean install of Windows 11

I use a WD SN580 SSD which makes my XPS 15 9570 run real fast with 32GB RAM installed
