White led blinking

My new XPS13 7390 behaves a little strangely - the status led in the front of the laptop randomly blinks white light, in no apparent pattern. I read that if there are also orange blinks, it can indicate a hardware problem. But I only have white blinks. What does this mean? Is there some way to stop it from happening? I find it extremely distracting.

@Mary G , thank you for your reply. I have read the manual before and all the blinks it describes include an amber light blinking. As I have mentioned in my initial post, I do not see any amber lights. This is a 60 second sample of the blinks:

Same thing is happening with my New XPS 13 9300.  I shut down the laptop and I get the same random blinking white light, while the laptop is suposed to be shut down.

Jesse,

That was my thinking too but it happens when I click, start and select shut down. Sounds like my computer is not actually shutting down when I tell it to.  Is there a way to confirm/fix that?

Another thing I just noticed is that my computer will not power on unless that light is on.  If I press the power button while the light is off nothing happens, but is I press the power button during the 3 seconds the light is on the computer powers on.

Hi Jesse,

It is the same light as seen in the video posted above.  It's the power/status indicator light. When I shut down the laptop the power/status indicator light blinks white. The manual only talks about errors when it's blinking white/amber but there is no amber. It is a slow blink, the light stays on for about 3 seconds then is off for about 20 seconds or so then is on for 3 seconds. It stays like that the entire time the laptop is shut down.

jdesilva2,

It sounds like the system is in sleep/hibernate mode. Can you verify that the system is shutdown?
