Integrated Webcam not working Windows 11

I just updated my Dell XPS 15 9570 on Windows 11. Now the integrated webcam is not working anymore.

It is not displayed in the device manager. It is also not found if I search manually for new hardware in the device manger. Further I checked the troubleshooting with Dell Support Assist, but also there no webcam is found. I also ensured, that the Webcam is activated in the BIOS.

Does anybody know, how to solve this issue? Is there a way to manually install the necessary driver?

I work on a helpdesk and ran into this issue this morning.  Below is the solution that worked for my user.

Go to Device manager and show hidden devices.  Not sure why but the Webcam was hidden.  I then opened the properties for the integrated Webcam and went to the drivers tab.  Choose Update Driver

Then select Browse my computer for drivers

Then choose Let me pick from a list of available drivers on my computer

Then I selected USB Video Device and hit Next

At this point the camera came on immediately.  I could not find that the driver date or version had changed at all from original, but the camera started working.  Hope this helps someone.

This web page may help and there have been a number of posts regarding webcams not working in Windows 11. It may be a bug that MS has to address in future updates.

Thank you for your answer JOcean. I tried all the possible fixes mentioned in the link, but none of them could solve the issue. Hopefully there will be a future update.

Yes. The issue solved itself some days after I asked the question. There must have been a windows update.

So, I had the same problem on my machine which is the Dell XPS 13 7390. However, I got it fixed and you may find the same thing works for you. The trick was reinstalling the original drivers that are needed for the webcam - the newer ones don't work for the integrated webcam for some reason. For my machine I uninstalled what was existing (via add or remove programs) and installed these, choosing to roll back drivers if prompted. I also rebooted between each install.

I believe the one that specifically causes the problem when you upgrade to Windows 11 is the last one in the list, but I don't know (because I did all three). You should be able to find the drivers on the Dell support site.

I am having this same problem and it's so frustrating. I've tried everything except I can't figure out how to uninstall the drivers and re install them as delibeli stated because my camera doesn't appear in device manager. Delibeli, can you walk me through it please.

I feel your pain boxermama10. I spent three hours with Microsoft remotely connected to my computer doing the same thing. They finally told me it's dells problem and get a driver from them....even though Dell explicitly says the drivers come from Microsoft for the webcam and they do not have any drivers.

I'm in the same boat. Spent 2 hours yesterday watching tech support make a million changes to my system and the camera still doesn't work. Like you @Tifferj25 my camera does not appear in the device manager, so I can't do anything with the drivers. Dell has no answer which is frustrating.

I had the same problem after the latest Windows 11 update. I did a system restore and I am not. not. going to go through that again. No more updates until they make an update that corrects this issue.

@greengrass25 We are talking Dell here. I have two tablets with the same problem so it is unlikely to be a hardware issue. Good luck!
