i year old XPS screen failure

I had my XPS about 14 months when the screen stopped working.  Like others have posted, the screen works if you keep the screen angle at 45 degrees but of course that is almost unusable.  A knowledgeable friend looked at the laptop and told me that the problem is with the connection ribbon between the screen and the computer.  He says the only solution is to get a new screen and that will be at least $500.  I am back to using the Microsoft Surface I bought in 2018.  Super disappointed in Dell.  Even my friend, who was a big Dell advocate, is now having second thoughts about the company.

That is unusual as the screen typically should last a long time unless it has been abused
