XPS One 2720, can the Nvidia 750 M be upgraded?

I notice that even when I play a web-based game, my graphics card temps rise quite high (~90°C!). I have MSI Afterburner installed, but the fan speed of the 750 M is not configurable. Everything else on the system is still fine, so I don't want to have to replace the whole system. Is there another, more powerful card, that is compatible with this?

Thanks!

Most people saw holes in the back of the case and add one or more Fans to fix this.

There's nothing in the Service Manual about removing the video card, so it's likely hardwired directly onto the motherboard since it's a Mobile (laptop) video card.

There is a 99% chance it is not upgradable since Nvidia has quit when it comes to MXM cards that were somewhat upgradeable. This is almost certainly soldered to the board.

I agree that it is a confusing naming by Dell. In all of the documents, we call it a discrete GeForce GT 750 M. In reality the card is "part" of the motherboard.

While the idea of adding fans to the back is certainly an interesting one (and physically do-able from the perspective of the fans - my concern would be how to power the fans?  I am not at all thrilled with the idea of splicing into existing wiring.

Well I have decided to add 3 fans to the back as shown in the video (though the video uses only 2, I'm adding a third at the top as an exhaust for the CPU venting)..  I decided to use an external power supply, as the internal one is only 260w, and no one will see the wiring in the back anyway.  This will hopefully give some added and extended life to the system, the video chip, and the CPU.

:(

Sadly, even with 3 fans added - 2 blowing air in (on the sides) and the 3rd at the top as an exhaust - it still did not lower the temps at all.  Still hitting 90-92c.

Thought the CPU seems to be a few degrees cooler.

One IMPORTANT thing I should add, is that it is not clear that you have to select the APPLICATION you want to use the GT750M with in the GeForce Control Panel - I thought it was defaulted to using the 750m when you installed the Nvidia drivers!

Regardless, I was able to successfully add the fans to the back and they are utterly silent, though I haven't tested them with the game/s yet.  Will post an update on the effectiveness when I have  :)
