XPS 8950, how to get the correct part (CPU cooler)

I have tried twice to get my cpu cooler replaced, both times the technicians were sent fans instead of the cpu cooler.  Does anyone know what the part number for the 8950 xps desktop cpu cooler for intel K processors.  It has the heat sink with the fan in the middle. I seem unable to get the right part ordered. Thanks!

This moderator post looks to have the part number you require. What you are looking for is the heat sink I assume. Also this forum post will help.

This is the real answer:

Both parts listed in previous posts show either the liquid cooler or the stock cooler shipped with non-K variant intel chips.

The K chips ship with a heatsink that has 6 heat pipes in a heat sink with a fan in the middle blowing air at a right angle to the cpu instead of away from the cpu in the much smaller stock cooler for non-K intel chips.

the SKU for the correct part is CN-0C253W-AVS00-1AD-00EN-A00 so I believe the part number would be 0C253W

This was shared with support on multiple occasions but after 4 attempts at replacing this part, I have decided that this part is not able to be ordered by dell support and have accepted the liquid cooler as an alternative.

The noise issue is now resolved, but I guess we will never know why the correct part could not be ordered.

third try is scheduled, let's see if they can get it right this time. For some reason they don't list part numbers on the dispatch detail, but at least it says 'HEATSINK' this time... what an unbelievable waste of time and money for them and me LOL

Re: Does anyone know what the part number for the 8950 xps desktop cpu cooler for intel K processors.  It has the heat sink with the fan in the middle

by heatsink with the fan in the middle, do you mean the 65w basic cooler (processor heatsink and fan assembly)?

redxps630_0-1642143408840.jpeg

if yes, why would you want to use the basic 65w air cooler (heatsink fan only, basic Dell pancake cooler) for a -k cpu, which usually requires a high TDP cooler such as the 125w AIO liquid cooler in 8950.  unless I understand you incorrectly.

do you currently have 125w cooler and you want to downgrade to 65w air cooler, or do you have 65w cooler and want to upgrade to 125w liquid cooler?
