If you have the stock 8700 pancake heatsink you can upgrade to Dell xps 8900 tower air cooler. It is a direct drop in.

Thank you for your suggestion.

I checked Newegg.ca site for LGA 1150 coolers.

Do you think I can buy one of these?

It depends. When you install those non Dell heatsink it often involves more work. Dell uses a M3 back plate for the heatsink. Non-Dell heatsink often uses their own proprietary backplate which means you need to remove the motherboard from case and remove the Dell back plate as a prerequisite. I recommend minimal effort upgrade.

Actually it is quite difficult to remove the Dell M3 backplate as you can see in this pic of back side of 8700 mobo.  The plate is fastened to the cpu ILM. To remove the plate you would need to remove the ILM.  I don’t recommend it at all.

Another good option is Dell XPS 8940 tower cooler VWD01 or 2NW0M.  The cooler is a newer Dell oem model.

it is c/w 8700 b/c it is for LGA1200 socket which has same heatsink mounting hole spacing as LGA1150 in 8700.

8940 case (6.65”) is narrower than 8700 (7.3”) so the cooler will definitely fit 8700 case.

i cannot find it on eBay ca or Amazon ca that is located in Canada. I think the options are chat w Dell on line directly on pricing and shipping cost in Canada or have a US seller ship to Canada.

Besides CPU cooler upgrade, you can add a front fan to the lower chassis for cool air intake.

If I remember correctly, the mounting space at the front was designed for a 92 mm fan.  Anything with good review and available to you should do.

I bought a 92mmm fan with 2 connectors 4 pin and 3 pins. I want to connect it with my PSU. What kind of adapter do I need?

A link to the fan. https://www.canadacomputers.com/product_info.php?cPath=8_130&item_id=257316

It wont be easy to fix the fan.
