Any Quality Advantage to XPS over Inspiron Desktop?

My wife and I both need new PCs. I got her a minimum configuration Inspiron, and am really impressed by it.

Does the XPS have any advantage in quality and reliability over the Inspiron? Either configuration would work for me, but I'm willing to spend more for reliability.

Inspiron tends to use cheaper made motherboard.  the ssd, ram, cpu are oem and may be similar.  the details how mobo is made is murky.  for long term reliability prefer XPS if you had to pick one.  not to say XPS is guaranteed to be fail safe.  anecdotes are some new XPS are lemons.

I had never bought brand new Dell myself although my work 12 yo bought a Inspiron 530 for me.  looking back I am shocked they did not know.  The 530 had no issue though.

I think majority are happy w whatever they bought from Dell, there are always some outlier case, like new cars.

but to be really safe, I would buy used 1-2 year old that had original user validated trouble free.  Basically it is either good for 12 years or some were never right day one.

Yes, besides being better quality and reliability, the XPS allows better component upgrade comparing to Inspiron.
