Standalone setup

I come from the S-30 and older thin client environment and purchased 2 Optiplex 3000 Thin Clients to test in our environment. Needless to say it appears to have gotten more complicated to setup. Looking to have these as standalone desktops similar to old winterms. Would appreciate someone pointing me in the right direction on how to set these up and ultimately creating a backup on a thumb drive or network folder for future deployments. Thank you in advance.
