Interested in WDM

Interested in WDM

My company is looking to purchase WDM since we use roughly 300 Wyse S10 terminals through out our organization.

Our biggest issue is when they go to shutdown they accidently click "Reset the system setting to factory default". If this happens will WDM be able to connect to the device? And if you know of a way to disable that box please tell me!

Other than that the only time we need to make changes to the terminals is f someone needs a different printer for some reason. I'm sure WDM can manage that.

I am not feeling the love here.

I've been looking for better documentation or images / videos of wdm in action. I'm not having very much luck.

Anyone have anything at all that would be helpful? Or should I continue my search on google?

These little machines are inconsistent, aren't they? Some of the s10's see the FactoryDefautl = No and remove the box. Others ignore it. Compatibility issues with different firmware? I'll have to do some more research.

Luck with WDM or removing the reset button?

For the reset button I've found that if you add PRIVILEGE=low it removes the reset box and removes the users access to the network settings. You are able to change the printer settings, which I like.

Thank you for your response!

I'm sad to hear that the s10 is at EOL. We have a lot of them out there and even more in stock. The company I work for was using them before I got here.

Right now we have a pretty basic WNOS.INI file. I'll look into WTOS. Hopefully it will help with some of the issues we are having, like the reset box... Had 3 people call with that issue last week.

**edit**
Wow, I can not believe it was that simple to remove the reset box. I was told they looked for weeks and could not find a way to do it. I assumed it just wasn't out there. I'll definitely be spending more time reading these documents. Thanks!

The new Indian Summer babydoll nightwear is definitely the perfect pick.

stratagem,
You may want to invest some time getting to know the Central Configuration features of WTOS instead of WDM. With WTOS devices you can create a central configuration file (WNOS.INI) which will allow you to control de behavior and the configuration of the thin clients, including their ability to use the "Reset" capabilities. WDM is a great program, but it introduces more complexities into your environment and the S10's are already End-od-life devices, so you may not be getting your money's worth out of the investment.
You can also download the WNOS.INI configuration utility, which will simplify the creation of the text file, at www.freewysemonkeys.com
