Battery compatibility
Inspiron 14 5485 2-in-1
My service tag tells me I have an Inspiron 14 5485 2-in-1, but the physical label reads P93G. The battery has swelled and no longer holds a charge. The dead battery is a 42wh 11.4V type YRDD6. I am looking to replace the battery ASAP, and have found one in-stock at microcenter. The in-stock battery is a BTI 42wh 11.4V. The list of compatible items includes 14 5485, but does not specify the 2-in-1 designation. I would like to understand if this battery is indeed compatible with my machine.

That would be a third party battery -- not OEM.

@ejn63 I'm not looking specifically for an OEM, I'm looking for a battery that is available today, and I am looking for clarification about the compatibility of the 3rd party battery I found. If the compatibility chart does not specifically indicate the 2-in-1 designation, does that mean the battery is not compatible?

All of these are 2-in-1s so the battery should be the same. Your seller has the last word on compatibility -- third party batteries are as good as the seller's backing of them. Most are manufactured in China by no-names -- whatever support you get comes from your seller.
