HP ScanJet 4300C & Vista

Does Vista support the HP ScanJet 4300c?  Its a great scanner, bought when I got Dell's Mill. Me in 2000.

I've just purchased the XPS-420 & trying to install the scanner.  It goes thru the process, icon is there, but can't get it to scan.  Gives a message that it can't be located.

I'm wondering if I'll have the same problem with my printer.  Its a HP Deskjet 932c & I've had it since 2000.

Thanks for any imput!!

Thanks for the info.  So, I guess my printer won't work either. I also have a laptop XP.  You're saying if they're networked I can use scanner & printer from the laptop?  Gee, I was really liking Vista until all this!!!!

Well, I tried the HP scanject on my laptop (Compaq w/Windows XP), it doesn't work either.  Goes thru all the setup, but gives me the same message as the XPS 420--- scanner not found.  I'm "dumb" about drivers, etc.   I suppose they're not there!!  Should I try connecting my printer prior to the scanner?  I didn't want to disconnect the printer from my old "Me" if its not going to work.  I need it more often than the scanner.

You can get the drivers for Win XP for the scanner and printer

from HP, Your printer will work with the drivers that are already

on Vista or you might say plug and print like I did with my

HP 5550 printer. Just go to HP web site and check out the driver

info for your products.
