VXRail Trainings - Online/Virtual (Access to iDRAC/KVM)

Has anyone taken the online/virtual version of VXRail Training (VxRail Installation and Implementation / ES524CPX00074 for example)?

Did they provide you with remote access to the iDRACs and/or another iVKM? And also to an RDP/Citirix session where one can point a browser at vCenter / vSphere after the initial setup wizard is completed?

Any feedback would be helpful in deciding if/whether to wait for a Classroom-course.

Thanks, ~BRIAN

Sorry I missed your original post. I'm one of the Dell instructors; our VxRail Installation and Implementation class covers the preparation, network validation, and pre-build state of the nodes. We then do a software build of a 3-node cluster and perform post-build validation. Finally, the class covers some day-two activities like vSAN management and adding an additional node.

We use a remote lab environment that provides vSphere and ESXi consoles throughout the build process. The ESXi servers, the vCenter server, and any other services we need are 100% real software on virtual machines. These simulate the VxRail install experience in every way except for those that require hardware. Which means we can only discuss (not perform) these topics in the class:

  • Node racking and wiring
  • iDRAC setup and monitoring

Our Online/Virtual class offering uses the same lab as the Classroom offering (if you can find one). This is the same course the Dell Services team attend, though they go through a series of shadowing engagements before doing an independent build.

To follow-up:

Did anyone who attended the class participate in the initial VXRail setup and installation? If so, how realistic were the "Virtual VXRail" platforms provided?  Thanks. ~BAS

FYI the Cisco HyperFlex official training courses , even if they are delivered in Classroom format, use a remote virtual lab simulation with the same limitations:
