VxRail 4.5.1

Hi, I plan on implementing 2 x G series appliances that are at version 4.5.1 connecting to an external vCenter. I'm just trying to verify the supported version on vCenter and the SolVe documentation doesn't state the build number. The customer is at vCenter version 6.5.0.13000 Build 7515524. I believe its supported, just looking for verification.

Thanks!

Dan,

A couple of things, what is 4.5.1? is it 4.5.100? 4.5.101? 4.5.150?  You need to be more specific.

Have you looked at the release notes?

Have you submitted feedback to the SolVe team for procedure clarification? SolVeFeedback@emc.com

When in doubt, always match the version of VC that is included in the VxRail Software bundle. In this case, for 4.5.150, it would be vCSA 6.5 Update 1e build 7515524.  The release notes include this information.

Thanks Gary, I don't have the hardware in-hand yet so I can't verify. The SolVe procedure didn't spell out the build which prompted my question.

Thanks again!

Hi Gary,

A few months ago the version requirement of external vCenter was listed in KB.

https://support.emc.com/kb/495337

However, there is no description in the current VxRail support matrix.

https://support.emc.com/docu82227_VxRail-Support-Matrix.pdf

Do you have any information of this change?

kawaman   That support matrix is geared specifically at the VxRail hardware for FW/driver information, disk layout, etc... It is not geared at VMware software stack version info.  That said, let me see if the owner of that doc can possibly include VMW software stack info.

Hi Gary,

This KB before being changed was easy to understand.

”VxRail versions and each component code levels: KB-495337"

https://support.emc.com/kb/495337

Will not go back to the before KB?

nope - the KB will not go back to how it was. Moving forward, the content will be in the document.
