VM storage policy VxRail manager

Hi,

I was wondering if it's possible and supported to change the default VM storage policy for the VxRail manager. By default the "Marvin-System-Storage-Policy" is applied to the VxRail manager. I will feel more comfortable when the failure tolerance method is set to RAID-6 erasure coding with FTT=2.

Cheers!

Opened an SR by support and got the following answer.

Erasure coding is supported, you just have to ensure that there is a minimum number of fault domains to ensure availability.

Hello Vincent

Yes, Storage Policy can be changed even down the the virtual disk level.

However for the use of erasure coding (R5/6) and higher FTT you need meet the requirements of node count. In addition Erasure coding is restricted to All Flash configurations with vSAN 6.2 and greater.

What version of vxrail and model are you using? Vxrail 4.0 is vSAN 6.0

VxRail 4.5 which is to be released soon will support vSAN 6.6

I hope that helps.
