Reset VxRail E660F node - No RASR tool

Hi everyone,

Due to a wrong initialization I'm trying to use the RASR tool to reset factory a VxRail E660F node.

In the past I already did it on another vxrail model but here I can't  find any Internal SD card or port with the RASR tool at the Boot menu.

Is there any other way like making a bootable USB key or anything I'm missing?

Thanks for helping.

Thanks Lex,
Boot into the bash:
    prepare iDRAC console to host
     Put host into maintenance mode
    Reboot host
During boot, press F11 in iDRAC console
    select "one-shot boot menu
    select [Hard Drive] internal SD-iDSDM
Press alt + F2 to load into the bash shell.
try the following commands to make sure it is installed properly
change the working directory to /mnt/RASR/release with the command "cd mnt/RASR/release"
Run the command "cat esxtmp.tar.* | tar tvf - | grep -i recoverybundle"

If that doesn't help. You can get the image from https://dell.to/3ENs6YP if you login.

Hi,

Thanks for your question. Which version of Vxrail are you using? The instructions are slightly different for each version.

Let us know if there is anything else we can help you with.

Hi,

Same problem with E660F, no Internal SD card. It's visible if the host is in "maintenance mode" ? How put the host into maintenance mode ?

Hello jtaverneKD,

Here are a couple of links to kb’s that explain how to put a node in maintenance mode. https://dell.to/3mxvIZj

E660 does not have IDSDM.
Mount RASR ISO image as iDRAC virtual DVD and Boot the node from virtual DVD.
You can write images from virtual RASR ISO DVD to BOSS device directory.

See Solve Online when you want to know more details. It is restricted procedure.
If you have no authority to see the procedure, you shouldn't do it.

Download it from Support site , select the right existing VxRail version you have, make a bootable USB or put it on virtual DVD and use the same procedure of reseting nodes as usual. E660F do not provide internal SD Card for RASR. Just download it.

Hi,

I have the same problem for VxRail P670F.
No internal SD-Card to start the RASR from. Where can I download the ISO-Image? I cannot find it on the download site.

Kind regards

Hello Shraank,

You will need to be either tech support or a partner to access it.  Here is the link that you can see if you can access it. https://dell.to/3JMpgGG

This is a restricted procedure as mentioned above. There is another tool available called NIM (Node Image Management) that is used as an alternative to RASR. Its actaully much better IMO but needs more ports open than 443 to image a node.

The accepted solution here is wrong
